Since our launch in 2018 with the Gold Serum, we have never used external packaging for our products. By forgoing unnecessary boxes and outer packaging, we reduce waste and make a positive environmental impact. Our products come only in their essential containers, which are now primarily glass.
Speaking of glass, most recently we upgraded the Modern Mist from its original packaging, It is now available in a luxurious amber brown glass bottle with an elegant black mister top. This change not only reduces plastic waste thus reducing waste in the beauty industry but also aligns with our commitment to offering eco-friendly and recyclable packaging options. Our latest product, Potency Powder, is available to members of the 710 Society in an amber glass bottle. Soon, we will offer a large 32-ounce refill pouch with a spout that customers can use to refill and reuse the bottles helping to eliminate unnecessary waste.
We believe in shipping efficiency as another way to combat emissions. By shipping as many products as we can safely in one box, we reduce the number of packages sent. This in return helps to reduce the carbon emissions associated with transportation of our rooted in nature products.
To further minimize our environmental footprint, we’ve recently replaced the plastic bubble wrap we were utilizing. The products that require a little more protection during shipping will now be wrapped with eco-friendly paper wrap. This paper wrap is not only biodegradable and compostable but also offers the same level of protection for our products during transit to ensure they arrive safely.
Many of the products at Potency No. 710 are multifunctional or hybrid, targeting various skin concerns and offering different use cases. By developing products that serve multiple purposes, we reduce the need for consumers to purchase multiple items. This in return cuts down down on overall consumption and packaging waste. Our multifunctional products not only provide effective solutions for skincare but also promote a more sustainable and minimalist beauty routine.
Packaging isn’t the only source of waste though according to Vogue Business;
“Just as it is in apparel, waste is built into beauty’s business model. However, most work to eliminate waste has so far been connected to packaging, while overlooking other sources. Waste is generated by formula testers, unsold or returned products and items that expire in warehouses or on store shelves. Compounding the problem is the lack of data on how much actually gets wasted, as well as a lack of solutions for managing that waste better.”

When working to bring new products to life, we have extensive conversations about the ratios, ingredients and other aspects involved and typically within just a test round or two, they can achieve the end result I am envisioning.
Additionally, our products are not found in big box stores. Because are products are made in small batches, it is extremely rare that we ever have products expire. Additionally, since 2018, we have not had a single product returned. Additionally we have consistently maintained a returning customer average between 45 and 50%. This is a testament to the efficiency of the products. It also shows that products are being utilized and customers are returning for more not letting them sit on their shelves and expire.
